Mayor's Message

Welcome to the Town of Scotland Neck on-line. We are located in the southeastern section of Halifax County. Scotland Neck serves as an employment, retail, banking, medical, dining and cultural center for the entire southeastern portion of the county. We are known for our wide main street with center parking, beautiful crepe myrtle trees and very friendly people. We are proud of the fact that we do not have a stop light in town and it is because everyone drives with caution and courtesy.

Come to Scotland Neck and you will find a land of unspoiled beauty. The quiet, scenic Roanoke River winds its way just eight miles North of town. The Roanoke River lures those who enjoy fishing, hunting, boating, camping, birding, and the great outdoors. You will also be reminded of our blessed good fortune in having well-maintained community facilities, such as the Scotland Neck Memorial Library, Municipal Complex with a 714 seat auditorium, Senior Citizens Center, Police and Fire station , public and private schools, EMS station, Halifax Community College Satellite site, Wellness Center, Scotland Neck Family Medical Center and Hospital.

We invite you to visit us and see what you have been missing.  Come spend a day or spend a lifetime.

Proud of Our Past and Excited about Our Future

A Tradition of the Good Life

The same beautiful land that offers a bounty of recreational opportunities also providers a host of attractive homesites. Land is not only plentiful, it's affordable. Existing homes range from elegant Georgian to comfortable ranch in neighborhoods filled with people eager to get to know you. The recreation department brings young and old together for activities that range from Little League to softball, tennis, youth league basketball or handcrafts.

Two schools - one public and one private - provide well-rounded opportunities for a good education. After graduation, students can further their education at one of the many colleges or universities located nearby: NC Wesleyan College, Chowan College, Halifax Community College, or East Carolina University. Halifax Community College features a Scotland Neck campus for business, industrial and continuing education. Many continuing education courses are held in the Scotland Neck Library, which in addition to its impressive selection of books offers year-round programs for children and adults.

Our new library also offers advanced technological resources. The same community resources that support the new library helped construct the new Scotland Neck Medical Center, a 100-bed facility served by three physicians and a full-time pharmacist. The medical center is backed by a full-time, paid paramedics rescue squad and a volunteer fire department - dedicated citizens who devote their time and resources to insure that their skills and equipment are up to the highest standards.

Access to regional medical centers are just 45 minutes away at Halifax Memorial Hospital or Nash General. Pitt County Memorial Hospital, an elite state-of-the-art medical center and teaching hospital, is only an hour away from Scotland Neck.
